In the SDL a great amount of attention is payed to networking. SDL is part of the “Network of Schools of Political Studies”, acting in Eastern Europe under the support of Council of Europe with the purpose of promoting European values through the creation of a new generation of leaders in the region. The schools in the region are developed according to a model of the Moscow School for Political Studies, which was established 1992. Currently the network has got 21 schools. The schools are supported by the Directorate General of Political Affairs (DGAP) of Council of Europe and its role is to coordinate school activities, improve exchange of experiences and advise the schools in electing lecturers and subjects.
During 2003, the headmasters of the schools developed an agreement based on the following principles: Harmonised curriculum, exchange of experts and students, joint sessions of students from different schools and the emphasising of a European dimension.
